Inspiration comes to us when the unexpected and extraordinary collide. Fancy That Group’s inspiration happened when Europe and Style were inspired in Brockville Canada back in the mid-seventies. With humble beginnings in 1974, Inger Sparring-Barraclough opened Fancy That in Brockville, Ontario. This tiny 600 square foot location began with a focus on European shoes and accessories and developed into a passion for full European Inspired Style.                                     

The next time you visit one of our locations we guarantee you will be caught up in our passion to bring you European Inspired Style. The Fancy That Group has grown from one idea to three stores specializing in european clothing, stylish handbags and fashionable footwear. All three stores have a unique identity and have each carved out a niche for themselves in every fashionista they have touched!

The Fancy That Group prides itself on a personal boutique atmosphere where customers feel at home and can work closely with our style consultants to develop a wardrobe for their individual needs. Although started as a boutique to bring european clothing to Canada, The Fancy That Group also carries Canadian & American lines.

FROM OUR FAMILY TO YOURS

Family is still an important part of the Fancy That Group with Inger’s son, Dan Sparring, at the helm of the Brockville store, Limestone & Ivy, that carries both footwear and clothing for men and women. Maria Cronk, Inger’s daughter, is the operations manager for all three locations and bases her talents and skills out of the Kingston locations-Fancy That and the Roundstone. Maria's daughter, Amanda Cronk & Alix Martin, have since joined the team. On any given day all five can found in their respective locations working hard to make sure that their family business continues to be successful.

OUR STORY

ARRIVED IN CANADA, 1973

Originally from Sweden, Inger and her three children came to Canada in 1973. Just one year later the first Fancy That was opened. In typical European entrepreneurial style, Inger not only sold fashions, but the antique fixtures used to merchandise were also for sale. The public could not get enough of Inger’s eye for style!

STORE OPENING, 1979

In 1979, Inger moved to Kingston and opened Fancy That in the Frontanac Mall. It quickly become a local style destination and continued until 1998.

PRINCESS STREET, 1986

In 1986, Inger’s daughter Maria, with Inger’s help, opened Fancy That at its current location at 48 Princess Street in downtown Kingston. In 1991 The Roundstone was opened in the Frontanac Mall just a few doors down from Fancy That. The Roundstone quickly became known for their more casual, classic and mature style—of-course European Inspired.

THE ROUNDSTONE DOWNTOWN, 1996

In 1996, Inger and Maria decided to relocate The Roundstone downtown next to Fancy That at 50 Princess Street. This move to a more familiar street-side shop format only enhanced the European ethics of The Roundstone.
